Russell is our embroidery guru—the perfect blend of technical brain and creative soul. Born and raised in South Louisiana, he grew up surrounded by sewing and quilting, learning early from both grandmothers who quilted by hand and a mother who sewed garments for costumes, pageants, and special occasions.
With a background in Computer Engineering and a career spanning oil & gas, manufacturing, healthcare, and higher education, Russell brings a systems-level understanding to embroidery that sets him apart. He has worked with nearly every major embroidery machine brand, owns multiple BERNINAs, and currently stitches on the BERNINA 700 PRO among others.
After returning to sewing about six years ago, Russell explored quilting, garments, and bag making—but embroidery captured his full attention. Over the past several years, he has focused on mastering embroidery techniques, materials, stabilizers, software, and machine settings to achieve consistently exceptional results.
Since 2023, Russell has hosted our Embroidery Sewciety, where he’s known for breaking down complex concepts into clear, practical instruction. His classes go beyond button-pushing—students learn why things work, how to troubleshoot, and how to confidently elevate their embroidery projects.
